Generally peaceful, making it an ideal resident of a well-researched community aquarium. The neon tetra is one of the most popular and instantly recognizable fishes in the aquarium hobby, this species has been selectively-bred to produce a number of additional strains. It is perhaps best-maintained alongside small-to-medium-sized cichlids, among others.

Discus.ae prefers younger stock for their better ability to adapt to new water parameters and higher tolerance against transport. On rare occasions you may receive larger specimens when small fish are unavailable, however the smallest should be expected unless the size is noted as “Large” or “Adult”.
